The wind crosses the parking deck, but it no longer carries the roar of engines. The smell of gasoline and the markings on the concrete have faded. Fireweed pushes through the cracks, swallows accelerate into frenzied flight.
Walk along the fence and step further in, hear the quiver of furry seed pods. Moisture sweats from the walls, spores seep through the porous concrete. With each breath, they get absorbed deep inside.
Something grows, spreads, entwines.
The bed aglow invites you to rest. Warmth, carbon dioxide, and pheromones exude from you and entice. Do you feel the quiet companions your blood nourishes?
